Lorde’s inspiration is clear as crystals

LORDE has joined the likes of Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell as the latest celebrity fan of the power of crystals. The 24-year-old Kiwi says her new record Solar Power was inspired by this fascination. ‘This song is very much getting at the deep weirdness to it and the questionable elements of white women like me trying to achieve a sense of spiritual oneness,’ she added. ‘Whether they’re burning sage or palo santo or having this crystal around.’

Meanwhile, Lorde is wary of lecturing fans about the environment, Meghan and Harry-style. ‘It’s super tricky, being someone in my position, having influence,’ she told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe. ‘I’m not a climate activist. I’m a pop star.’
