PET RESCUERS ARE HUMANITY’S FINEST

- Fred, Newcastle

Ex-soldier Paul ‘Pen’ Farthing may have been told a private flight carrying pets from his Afghan animal refuge charity can now leave Kabul but defence minister Ben Wallace was wrong in his initial reaction to ‘put people before pets’ (Metro, Wed). Pets should have as much right to get out of Afghanistan as

people. What Mr Farthing is doing is truly remarkable. Humanity at its finest. David N Miles, Chelmsford

I’m quite sure that if Mr Wallace’s pet dog had been in Afghanistan, it would be wandering around the pavement of Westminster by now.
