Embassy attacker kills police with assault rifle

AN ATTACKER wielding an assault rifle was shot dead after killing three police officers and a security guard near the French embassy in Tanzania. Six others were injured during the gunfight in Dar es Salaam yesterday. Officers were last night working to identify the shooter, whose motive was unknown. Police chief Simon Sirro said the apparent terror attack may be a response to Tanzania sending troops to help fight Islamist insurgents in neighbouring Mozambique.
