Hundreds at Easter rave on Exmoor leave locals ‘trapped in their homes’

Kombucha ‘a fast way to lose weight’

- By SARAH HOOPER

DRINKING kombucha can help you lose fat as if you’d been fasting, a study claims.

The fizzy fermented drink’s microbes make changes in the intestines, say experts at the University of North Carolina.

Its probiotic microbes alter the expression of genes that affect the metabolism, leading to more proteins that break down fat molecules and fewer of those that build them.

Dr Robert Dowen said: ‘The microbes in kombucha tea trigger a fasting-like state, even in the presence of sufficient nutrients.’

AN ILLEGAL rave attended by hundreds of people in Somerset left locals ‘trapped in their homes’ as cars lined the road.

Police were called to the Easter party on Exmoor after residents complained about the thumping music and crowds.

One eyewitness told ITV people living in the area had their houses surrounded by revellers, leaving them feeling unable to go outdoors.

Another commented: ‘Exmoor is sadly not a place for families to visit today. The volume of music is incredibly loud and can be heard for miles and miles.’

Makeshift stages with large cutouts of cartoon rabbit faces, gazebos and loudspeakers were set up in the middle of Exmoor National Park on Sunday morning. Images showed revellers wearing bunny ears and drinking cider.

Local Tania Govier shared photos of cars lining the road and said: ‘Bet there will be some drug testing from the local police today! It’s unbelievable that an illegal rave can shut a main road… in fact it’s mental there’s 2,000 people up there, 500 cars and six police.’

Avon and Somerset Police said they were called around 6am on Sunday and found ‘the event already under way with several hundred people in attendance’.

They added officers were ‘engaging with individuals’ at the event and ‘providing community reassurance’.
