Spinners close in as Knights struggle

TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

In the Premier Division there was another win for leaders Horsham Spinners – taking another step towards winning the championsh­ip.

Disappoint­ingly their opposition Crawley Knights could only field two players and Spinners came in 7-2 winners.

It was three including a forfeit for Graham Beaney, and two including a forfeit for both Lynne Trussell and Erik Van Mol. For the Knights Fawzi Yousif was the winner in defeating both Lynne Trussell and Erik Van Mol.

In the battle for second place Divergents’ Sally Hughes was in terrific form in overcoming Hang Em High’s best players Michael Bridger, Ben Worley and Andrew Sharland.

Daniel Pound won his three with Minesh Agnihotri winning one. Andrew Sharland and Michael Bridger managed one win apiece for Hang Em High.

Dynamos continue to move up following a 7-2 win against Ping Panthers.

They started with a great treble from Dennis Hayden followed by the Caddy brothers chipping with two apiece to complete the win.

Neither brother was able to defeat Sasha O’Halloran for Panthers.

Sasha O’Halloran was the only winner for the Panthers.

Allstars also had a 7-2 win over Crawley Community with the only treble of the match from Bron Budka. Team-mates Freddy Goodhall and Nick Gilbert followed up with two each.

For Community, James T W Pettigrew won two only losing to Nick Gilbert in the fifth with Brett Holt taking all all-star’s team to four sets.

In Conference Division One, King Pongs played well to defeat New Avengers 6-3 with trebles for Jacob Allonby and Darius Mayhew.

For New Avengers Luke Goff, Robert Goff and Prevesh Ramnath it was a win apiece.

Pingwins are knocking on the door from leaders King Pongs following their 9-1 win over Blade Runners.

There were three each for David and Dan Polhill plus two from Rupert Browning with only the opposition’s Jennifer Watkins putting up a battle to defeat Rupert Browning in straight sets.

Magiks beat Spinderell­a’s 6-3 and Thunderbol­ts defeated X Men 6-3.
