Table tennis and billiards teams rack up big scores

TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

In the Premier Division, even without their number one Rory Scott, Horsham Spinners still managed to defeat Ping Panthers 9-0.

For Spinners it was three each for Freddy Goodhall, Graham Beaney and Erik Van Mol although Panthers made them work for the win.

Panthers Sasha O’Halloran, Steven Ive and Jeff Triggs all made a good showing against the leading premier team.

Divergents had a 8-1 win against All-stars with three for in-form Daniel Pound, three for Minesh Agnihotri and two for Jim Skinner their Veteran player.

All-stars’ Bron Budka was the only winner for them.

Hang Em High surprising­ly went down 3-6 to Crawley Knights as Fawzi Yousif continued with a winning streak getting three wins, Josef Krakovsky with two followed by Mina Matta with one.

For Hang Em High Graham Carter did well for two wins and Tony Rowell with one win. High in the averages third player Andrew Sharland had a disastrous evening losing all three games.

Dynamos defeated Crawley Community 8-1 with Crawley being a player short. Matthew and Richard caddy with three wins and Richard Cosens with one. Peter Cracknell was the lone winner for Crawley Community.

In Conference Division One there was a shock for division one leaders Ping Pongs as they went down 4-5 to Spinderell­a’s. There were two wins for John Bridger, two wins for Viv Cole plus the important one for Kate Bridger.

BILLIARDS

A West Sussex Billiards League match played at Hassocks and Keymer Sports and Social Club saw Mid Sussex

gain a comfortabl­e victory over Horsham.

James Dew opened for the hosts and secured a 44 break then moved on to beat Colin Harwood 200-32.

His colleague Stuart Williamson followed up with a 200-168 win over Colin Nicholson. The visitors’ Dave Liley rattled a 48 break and pulled a frame back beating Ian Janman 200-152.

Mid Sussex’s 3-1 victory was achieved when Barry Martin beat John Hoad 200110, the cumulative team points being 752-510, well marshalled by referees Jon Baxter and Derek Budde.
