Cricket club show they’re eco friendly

-

Balcombe Cricket Club have invested in sustainability this year, by adding recycled plastic outdoor furniture to their grounds.

Keen to replace several old wooden benches, the club recently applied for the County Grants Fund from cricket’s governing body, the ECB.

The club used the funding for 15 new benches from British Recycled Plastic, after researching various eco-friendly options.

Club member Adrian Ruzicka said the grant had enabled the club to make a sustainable choice for the future.

He said: “The ECB County Grants Fund has massively helped. Having benches that will last over 25 years and being maintenance free was a big incentive for the club to look for plastic instead of replacing with wood.

“We looked around on the internet for different companies, but British Recycled Plastic had the most appealing benches on offer and offered very good lead times for us to get them ready for the new season.

“We can’t wait to get them outside ready for our members and visitors to make full use of them.”

The ECB County Grants Fund supports clubs to create welcoming environments, provide enhanced facilities and playing opportunities, and help them tackle the impact of climate change.

As an environmentally friendly addition to the cricket club, recycled plastic was the perfect choice for the new benches, and British Recycled Plastic was delighted to be involved.

The independently owned company is a market leader in recycled plastic products that divert waste from landfill.
