Show-jumper Breen set to unveil new stud complex
After 18 months of building works, international showjumper Shane Breen will unveil his state of the art Pook Bourne Stud at Hickstead by opening its doors to the public this spring.
On April 19, Breen Equestrian will hold its first open day, where people can look around the stud and view the stallions available to breeders. A breeding barn with housing for 80 horses, a laboratory, stallion semen collection centre and foaling down pens have been completed near the Hickstead showground.
This is the latest major investment to both British Breeding and the local economy by Shane and Chloe Breen, who launched Breen Equestrian 15 years ago.
Breeding quality horses for top level sport is one of the main objectives and the dream is to breed horses that will go to the Olympics.
Pook Bourne Stud will be standing 12 stallions in 2022 and they range from some of the most promising young horses in the country to a group of established Grand Prix stallions that are very popular in the UK and Europe.
Breen Equestrian have kept stallion fees competitive to allow all breeders the chance to produce the best quality and most commercial horses for show jumping. These top quality stallions will be available to view in their stables and ridden under saddle.
There will also be some progeny on show, refreshments and a chance to win some prizes in a free raffle.
There are some broodmares due to foal-down near so hopefully there will be some new born foals to view.
