Hurstpierpoint student helps RNLI Intricate model yacht raises £250
A Hurstpierpoint student’s school project to build an International One Metre (IOM) radio controlled yacht has helped raise £250 for Newhaven RNLI. Bea’s Year 9 class were invited to take on a creative project of their choice and Bea’s passion for sailing led her to IOM model yachts. Bea said: “I built the yacht in my grandfather’s workshop. It was very precise and tricky work, the gluing of each individual mahogany strip, in particular took a great deal of time and concentration.” Bea completed her project over a period of six months and mostly during lockdown.
