Support for our campaign

-

At Last! I am so pleased that you are now campaigning for our beautiful Sussex to be protected from the massive overdevelopment that has already been done and the future government plans, which are ongoing and relentless.

We cannot allow this to continue and with you on board to publicise and highlight what is going on it will be vital; I wish this had been done sooner, if I am honest.

We have lost vital agricultural land, which has been such an easy win for developers, as developing brown field sites is harder and more expensive.

It has been shown how vulnerable we are recently with our food and oil supplies and we must grow more of our own food, we have fantastic pasture to graze our animals, much of which now has housing developments on top of it.

I remember visiting Bannisters Market in Haywards Heath as a child and it was a fantastic place. We have lost so much as local people.

We also have a water shortage in the South East.

As you are aware, there is not statutory requirement for a developer to consult the water companies and ask the question, ‘Can you supply water – is there an adequate water supply?’

This needs to be added as a requirement in law, by Parliament, to ask the water companies if it is sustainable to provide more homes in this area with water.

There is also a problem with high rainfall and the sewage from these homes goes straight into our rivers, streams and the sea.

This also need to be addressed.

There is a lot to do but you have my support. JULIE HAYDEN Hoblands, Haywards Heath
