A new winner has been announced for Burgess Hill in Bloom’s 2022 Spring Garden Competition.

The judges had ten gardens to judge on a rainy day, balancing notes, cameras and umbrellas, but they enjoyed the task as they always do.

The overall winner of the Household 2022 Spring Garden Competition was Jenny Harris of Tanglewood Lane, off Royal George Road.

A spokesman said: “The judges all mentioned the wowfactor of her imaginative, up-cycled side garden of giant tyre planting and handpainted stones and pebbles in a beautiful, striking design.

“Her planting was good quality and her Magnolia tree with under planting was spectacular in the front garden.”

Judges praised all the talented and hard working gardeners who entered including Heather Moore of Orchard Way; Daniel Saunders of Field Cottages, Mill Road; Sue Goodsall; Sue Price of St Peter’s Road; Helen Robertson in Orchard Road; Theresa Welch of Western Road; Paul Barnett in Station Road; Sara D’Allenger-Bradshaw in Crescent Road; Jenny Blake on Orchard Road and gardens in Station Road.

The BHIB Presentation Party will be held in the Constitutional Club, Cyprus Road on April 30. All Burgess Hill Gardeners are welcome. Contact cathybarnett@sky.com or phone on 01444 244617 for tickets.
