Motion to divest from fossil fuels

A Labour councillor has called on West Sussex County Council’s pension committee to take steps to divest all of the fund’s investments from fossil fuel companies.

A notice of motion from group leader Caroline Baxter (Lab, Worthing East) will be tabled during a meeting of the full council on April 1.

It comes one year after a similar motion was tabled, only for full council to vote instead for the committee to ‘focus on sustainable investment’.
