-

Albion under-23s cruised to a 5-1 victory over Derby County at the Amex on Monday as they moved seven points clear of the bottom three in Premier League 2.

Goals from Todd Miller, Jack Spong and Cam Peupion before the break put Albion in control, with Spong adding to Albion’s tally for the evening from the penalty spot 15 minutes after the restart before Miller got his second late on.

While Albion named six players in the starting XI who have made a first-team appearance this season, the oldest player on the park in an Albion shirt was captain Marc Leonard, who turned 20 in December – a positive reflection of the pathway the hosts have in place for their young starlets. Included in that group was defender Antef Tsoungui, who was making his return after a five-month absence with an ankle injury. left corner.

Albion moved up to eighth and put daylight between themselves and the relegation spots. Line-up: Beadle, Offiah, Furlong, Turns, Roberts, Tsoungui (BakerBoaitey 67), Peupion, Leonard (C), Moran (Ella 85), Spong, Miller.
