UPCYCLE, CRAFT AND SPRING PLANT FAIR: is taking place on Saturday 9th April from 10am to 1pm in the Martlets (outside Scrapless and New Look) and will celebrate local creativity and sustainabi­lity. Highlights include a visit by Kirsten Ramsey, ceramics expert from BBC1’s Repair Shop, a toy swap, a charity sale of locally made hazel garden obelisks, and a plant and seed swap run by Burgess Hill Horticultu­ral Society. If you have leftover seed in a packet, sellotape it up and come and swap it for something you haven’t got! Anyone without plants or seeds to swap can purchase them (bring cash).

GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN: Burgess Hill is taking part in the Great British Spring Clean again this year. Five public litter picks, lead by Burgess Hill Town Councillor­s, have been organised by the Town Council which members of the public are invited to attend. There is one litter pick remaining:

- St Andrew’s Ward - Sunday 10th April, 10.00am Meeting point at Worlds End Rec Junction Road Entrance

There is no need to register to attend, just come along to the meeting point in good time, and all equipment will be provided. Any time you can volunteer is greatly appreciate­d and makes a big difference in keeping Burgess Hill tidy. Volunteers are advised to wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING: Burgess Hill Town Council’s Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday 11th

April, starting at 7.00pm, at Cyprus Hall in Cyprus Road. All residents of Burgess Hill are welcome to attend. The Annual Town Meeting is an opportunit­y for residents to hear about the work undertaken by the Town Council and its achievemen­ts during the past year. It will include a brief review by the Town Mayor, Anne Eves, and updates on recent town projects with an opportunit­y for residents to ask questions. YOUNG CARERS FUN DAY: Young Carers aged 6-11 years are invited by Burgess Hill Youth to the Young Carers Fun Day being held on Thursday 21st April from 10.30am to 2.30pm at Fairfield Community Centre in Western Road. All activities are free and being supported by Karen and the team at Action in Rural Sussex. Lunch will be provided. COMMUNITY CRAFTERS’ MARKET: Come and visit the Burgess Hill Community Crafters’ Market on Saturday 23rd April in Burgess Hill Town Centre at The Kiln, 3032 The Martlets. All sorts of handmade crafts to look at. Come and support our local community.

HANDMADE CRAFT STALL HOLDERS WANTED: The team at the Burgess Hill Community Crafters’ Market are looking for Handmade Craft stall holders who are interested in joining the Burgess

Hill Community Crafters’ Market held at The Kiln in the centre of town. Three events are planned this year. All Handmade Crafts are welcome. Stalls are limited. BURGESS HILL MARCHING YOUTH: is recruiting new members. Beginners, intermedia­te and advanced players aged 7+ are welcome. There are vacancies in:

Brass - cornet, baritone, euphonium (trombone if you own your own!)

Woodwind - clarinet, alto sax, (tenor sax, baritone sax if you own your own!)

BURGESS HILL HERITAGE & HISTORY ASSOCIATIO­N: April 8th, 8pm. A talk about Lydia Yavorska, Princess Bariatinsk­y who died in Hove about 100 years ago. Come & hear her fascinatin­g story at Burgess Hill Heritage & History Associatio­n’s monthly meeting.

Please note the meeting will be held in the Millfield room at the back of Cyprus Hall. Doors open 7.30. Members £1.50, including other societies, guests £3.50.
