‘We’re preferred bidder to take on Park Centre’
A team including Burgess Hill Town Council is the ‘preferred bidder’ to take over the Park Centre.
After West Sussex County Council closed the building it invited expressions of interest from anyone wanting to manage it.
Town council leader Robert Eggleston explained how they had formed a bid team with Sussex Clubs for Young People, Clarion Futures supported by the Escape Youth Clubs.
He explained how they were the county council’s ‘preferred bidders’ and were hoping a decision would be made either at the end of April or beginning of May.
They have submitted their business plan for WSCC to evaluate.
Mr Eggleston said: “We will have a process of bringing Park Centre back into use. The intention is to turn it into a proper youth hub providing a range of facilities.
“Escape Youth Club is core to that but also opening it up for youth mental health and other activities.”
