New chairman elected for Mid Downs Radio at Princess Royal

-

Mid Downs Radio, based at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, has elected Wendy SwintonEagle as its new chairman.

Wendy takes over from outgoing chairman Paul Barnett, having been a member of the charity and part of the committee for years, acting as vice chairman and member for PR and Community Liaison.

“We are very proud of the diverse entertainment and information service we offer not only to patients, staff and visitors to the Princess Royal Hospital but to the wider community,” said Wendy.

“We really are there as a companion for people 24 hours a day,” she said, adding that during lockdown the production team regularly checked NHS and Government sources to give listeners updates about the Covid pandemic.

Wendy is a former pupil of Trevelyan and Haywards Heath Grammar school and was commissioned into the army before becoming Relocation Officer at the BBC. She left to run her own business in the Algarve and read the news in English and recorded voiceovers for Kiss FM Algarve.

She then returned to Mid Sussex to live in Lindfield and joined Mid Downs Radio.

Wendy presents a Wednesday chat show with Mopsy Whitworth.
