Nomads, Lindfield eager to get going

Sussex Premier Cricket League champions Preston Nomads CC are aiming to retain the title in 2022.

Nomads have appointed Navin Patel as 1st team captain. He said: ‘It is my absolute honour and privilege to have been announced as the Preston Nomads CC 1st XI captain. This fantastic club has a proud and decorated history so to have my name now etched as one of the club’s leaders is truly a humbling experience, I have a good feeling about 2022.”

The club have signed overseas player Rehan Afridi from Pakistan in the wicketkeep­er/ mid order position.

Rehan has a rich pedigree at first class level in Pakistan. The club say they are very excited to welcome him to Sussex.

LINDFIELD CC

Janes Aggio-Brewe has taken over from Simon Shivnarain as Lindfield captain.

James (above) had a couple of years with the club a few years ago but has moved back into the area after time in Essex.

“I’m excited by the blend of youth and experience. We are looking to improve on seventh place,” he said. “We’ve retained the bulk of the side and I’m hoping the extra year of experience for the young lads will help us improve consistenc­y which is where we’ve struggled in the past couple of years. We are looking forward to our first competitiv­e game.”
