Carli’s latest brew

AN entrepreneur whose quirky tea room was once voted the nation’s favourite independent business has launched her very own beer - and it’s tea-flavoured.

At just 29, Carli-Jayne McNaught has already proved herself to be an enterprising businesswoman by running a successful tea room and opening a new bar last year.

Back in 2014, her tea room, The Olde Young Tea House on Grange Road, Middlesbrough, was voted the UK’s favourite independent business after winning a regional heat promoted by Middlesbrough Council.

Now the Middlesbrough mini-magnate has teamed up with Hartlepoolbased Camerons Brewery to launch her very own tea-infused pale ale - Sleeping BrewTea.

The bespoke beer was created when Carli and Camerons’ master brewer Martin J Dutoy blended an amber pale ale with Sleeping Beauty Green Tea to create a beer with a unique raspberry and rose taste and aroma.

Carli said: “I’ve been working with Cameron’s for over a year and think we have nailed it.

“I made the first batch with Camerons. We put the tea into a pillow cases to infuse the beer with the flavour and aroma.

On Friday night Carli celebrated the first batches of Sleeping BrewTea to go on sale at a launch night at the bar she opened in October last year on Bridge Street East in Middlesbrough - Hit The Bar.
