Middlesbrough Herald & Post - - SPORT -

IT was another excellent weekend for Joseph, Eve and Rachel Jackson at the North West Age Banded Judo Championships in Blackburn.

Joseph, 12, won a silver medal in the boys precadet U/34kg category, moving to third in the Ippon League Table.

With just the Sportif International at Edinburgh to go in April, the Acklam youngster is well placed to win automatic selection to the England Judo pre-cadet squad.

Twin Sisters Eve and Rachel, 14, who are already members of the England Judo cadet squad, won double honours in the women’s Cadet U/44kg category.

Eve got off to a flying start, winning four of her five fights securing a well-earned silver medal.

Rachel too put up a courageous challenge for the gold medal in the very last fight of the competition but was narrowly defeated by a penalty and had to settle for the bronze.
