YOUNG netballers from a Teesside club will represent the North-east at a national competition.

Grangetown’s U14 side were crowned regional league champion after finishing their two qualifying rounds unbeaten.

Their success means they’ll now join the top 18 teams in the country at the National Clubs U14 netball finals in Birmingham in May.

Just two teams from each region can qualify. Grangetown U14s finished top of their regional league beating sides from Newcastle, Darlington and Hartlepool in matches held over the past few months at Blue Flames Sporting Club, Newcastle.

Their final match on Saturday saw the talented side, coached by Faye Summerhill, triumph over Hartlepool’s Oaksway in a 22-16 win.
