Beauty pageant boosts hospice funds

-

A STUDENT from Redcar has walked away with the Miss North Yorkshire title – and helped raise thousands for Zoe’s Place in the process.

Ellie Newton, 17, clinched the title after three catwalk rounds in the final at the Downe Arms Hotel in Wykeham.

Ellie, who is studying childcare at Middlesbrough College and hopes to become a primary school teacher, pipped Middlesbrough dance teacher Abbie Wray, 18, and Northallerton maths and English student Amelia Stapley to the title.

The competition raised over £5,300 for the Zoe’s Place baby hospice in Normanby.

Ellie will now represent North Yorkshire at the upcoming Supermodel England national final on November 11 in Barnsley.

Last year, Miss Tees Valley judges chose Ellie to travel to Seoul, South Korea, to compete at the 28th World Miss University competition.
