On a roll for international playoffs
MIDDLESBROUGH Roller Derby have reached the International playoffs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the first time.
They qualified in division one of the event on August 18-20 as sixth seeds.
This is the first time the Teesside team has made it through to this international tournament, a great achievement in their tenth anniversary year.
Co-captain Ella Storey said “We have worked really hard to get to this point.
“The whole team has trained really hard, and we’re having an incredible year, currently sitting at the top of the British Championship table too!”
Co-Captain Terri Sudron added: “When you look at the other teams that have made it through this year, we’re a little team from a little town. The fact we have made it through is testament to the hard work of the team, the dedication of the coaches, and of course, the fact that ‘Boro lasses are made of tougher stuff.”
Marking its 12th year of pushing the sport’s athleticism and competition to new heights, the International playoffs and Championships bring together the most talented, highly trained skaters and teams from Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member leagues.
