Path to be closed

Middlesbrough Herald & Post - - HERALD & POST -

A footpath is to be closed off to prevent “inconsiderate” parents from parking at sheltered accommodation while dropping off and collecting their children.

Thirteen group is working jointly with Stockton Council to block a footpath on Naseby Court in Billingham, just a stone’s throw away from Bewley Primary School.

It comes after the residents of the sheltered housing complained about “inconsiderate parking and restricting access to residents”, which on one occasion prevented access to emergency services.

“Due to these issues the matter needs addressing ASAP and works are planned to start in August 2017,” reads the planning application, which was granted permission in just three days.

As a result, a 6ft timber fence is set to be installed across the opening, which is between 10 and 12 Naseby Court, to prevent access through to Bewley Primary School.

A spokesperson for Thirteen said: “We have had to take this action to ensure that the older residents at Naseby Court are not affected by inconsiderate car parking.

“We are pleased that Stockton Council has worked with us to alleviate this problem.”
