Film about town’s famous son shown in his cre­ation

THE first Mid­dle­ton show­ing of a film about the life of Edgar Wood has been hailed a suc­cess.

More than 300 peo­ple at­tended the pre­miere of the doc­u­men­tary ‘Edgar Wood - A Painted Veil’ at Long Street Methodist Church, which was de­signed by the ar­chi­tect turned artist.

The film has won pos­i­tive re­views, in­clud­ing from the MP for Mid­dle­ton and Hey­wood, Liz McInnes.

Film mak­ers from the Her­itage Film Group car­ried out painstak­ing re­search to cre­ate the film.

They have also se­cured a screen­ing of the film at HOME in Manch­ester city cen­tre and are in talks for a screen­ing at the Royal In­sti­tute of Bri­tish Ar­chi­tects in Lon­don.

The Lottery funded pro­ject sheds new light on the life of Edgar Wood.
