Youths are held over moped crime spree
POLICE have been targeting youths in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.
Greater Manchester Police have made several arrests after receiving complaints of youths causing annoyance on scooters, throwing stones at taxis and buses in Middleton. Five youths were arrested as part of an ongoing operation focused on mopedrelated crimes while another was arrested for theft of a moped.
In a post on Facebook, GMP Middleton said: “Over the last few days we have run another operation targeting youths causing annoyance in the Town Centre. We have identified some of the group responsible for this and have already taken members of it home to their parents.”
Police have also been responding to complaints of anti-social behaviour from residents in Alkrington. They said: “Again a plan is in place to tackle this and staff from the Neighbourhood team will be on duty tonight as they have been all week in the area to provide reassurance and deal with any issues. Although the Middleton Neighbourhood team is relatively small, we do take immense pride in the work we do to keep the residents of Middleton safe.”
