Serious injuries after fall from roof
A MAN has suffered serious injuries after falling off a roof.
Police were forced to close Rochdale Road after they received reports of a man on top of the Vets4Pets building, formerly the Black Bull Inn, and was throwing tiles down onto the road.
Officers from GMP Middleton urged people not to go near Rochdale Road, near the junction with Nowell Road in Middleton last Saturday. The warning was posted at around 3.30pm after police and paramedics were called.
One witness, who saw the drama unfold, said: “My friend and I were walking back from the shop and we saw someone up on the roof.
“He was throwing bricks and tiles off the roof. Some of them landed on the cars below. He was running around all over the roof and then lying down near the edge. And then he fell.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 2.40pm, police were called to Rochdale Road, Middleton, to reports that a man was on top of a building and throwing roof tiles below.
“The man fell from the roof a short time later.”
The man sustained injuries to his hip and was taken for treatment to Salford Royal Hospital.
