A 27-YEAR-OLD Middleton businessman who owns two companies in the town is up for a Rochdale Business Award.

Daniel Coyne, of Ullswater Drive, Langley, runs The Milk Barn on Fountain Street, Middleton, and Lean & Green in Middleton Shopping Centre.

The health foods fan, who has a degree in international business from Manchester Metropolitan University, has been nominated for Businessperson of the Year by Middleton Town Centre Management.

Daniel, who says he has put in ‘a lot of hard work’, started out by setting up a tattoo shop with a friend when he finished university, having decided that an office job was not for him.

He said: I’ve always wanted to set up on my own. I got near the end of my degree and I just knew I couldn’t sit at a desk all day.”

Daniel now runs the two businesses, The Milk Barn, offering milkshakes, smoothies, juices and healthy food, and Lean & Green salad bar

He said: “It was nice to be nominated, to be recognised. I’m told Middleton has never been nominated or won anything at the awards, so I’m happy that I’ve put the town on the map.”

The awards winners will be announced on November 9.
