Howarth brings quality to Hornets
ROCHDALE Hornets have added an experienced name to their forward pack with the signing of Stuart Howarth from Whitehaven.
The Wigan academy product has played over 120 Super League games with spells at Wakefield, Salford, St Helens and Hull FC as well as enjoying time at Workington and Whitehaven.
Howarth, who is a hooker by trade, also offers cover at loose forward, as well as in the halves.
The 28-year-old is excited to join up with Carl Forster at Hornets saying: “Speaking with Foz (Carl Forster) made it pretty straight forward. He’s a great coach, and easy to play with. He combines the role of player-coach really well.”
The pair’s paths have crossed before, with Howarth playing both alongside, and under Carl at Whitehaven.
Howarth continued: “I’m made up he asked me to come to the club along with Tony Stewart. I can’t wait to get started!”
Forster revealed Howarth as a ‘real quality signing’.
“Stu is a real quality signing for us, he brings a lot of experience and great leadership,” he said.
“This is a real statement from the club to secure a player of his calibre. He Is great to work with and I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Hornets shirt.”
