Gang flooded seaside resort with cocaine
ADRUGS gang headed by two brothers flooded a seaside resort with millions of pounds worth of cocaine and cannabis.
Anthony Gill, 33, from Middleton, and Bradley Gill, 28, from Blackpool, were the leaders of an organised crime group which supplied the Fylde coast.
Their sister, Jessica Lang, 21, from Grange Park in Blackpool, was also involved in the conspiracy.
They were snared by Operation Jennet, launched by Lancashire Constabulary’s Serious Crime Team.
Fifteen members of the gang were jailed for a total of 102 years at Preston Crown Court for supplying drugs and money laundering.
Anthony Gill, of Worcester Road, operated as the head of the gang and was involved in sourcing drugs, predominantly cocaine, from his criminal contacts.
He organised the handover of cash and deliveries of cocaine together with Bradley Gill and made use of encrypted phones to communicate with other conspirators.
Bradley Gill controlled the Blackpool-based cash and drug couriers and dealt with the distributors who took cocaine from the Gills’ stock.
He was also in contact with ‘upstream’ drug suppliers from outside Blackpool.
The Gill brothers both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and were each jailed for 14 years.
Lang was convicted by a jury of conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis and jailed for five years.
During the course of the operation, approximately six kilos of cocaine, a quarter of a kilo of amphetamine and £122,000 in cash was seized.
But police say the seizures only represent a snapshot of the true scale of the drug-dealing during the conspiracy period from May 2016 to July 2017 – and while the seized drugs were worth around £700,000, the gang is believed to be responsible for bringing drugs into Blackpool totalling millions of pounds.
The Gill brothers ran it and their sister, Lang, is the girlfriend of one of their trusted associates Scott Le Drew. Le Drew, 31, of Aysgarth Court, Blackpool, was jailed for 11 years and four months for conspiracy to supply cocaine, cannabis, and amphetamine, and possession of a prohibited weapon, CS gas.
Together with other distributors of controlled drugs, they coordinated the supply of significant amounts of Class A and B drugs in the north west.
