Have your say on IVF proposal

Middleton Guardian - - FRONT PAGE -

NHS chiefs want to hear the views of local people on a proposal to reduce the number of fully funded cycles of IVF from three to one.

A six week consultation was launched on Monday, December 3 to gather views, particularly from those registered with GPs in Middleton who would be affected by the proposed change. Responses to an online survey will inform the decision.

Borough GP and CCG Chair Dr Chris Duffy said “Over the past two years, an average of £423,000 is spent per year on IVF treatment.

“As an Integrated Commissioning Board we have a duty to secure the best possible investment for our funds and we have considered a number of different options regarding the future of funded IVF cycles. The preferred option for future funding is to offer one funded cycle.

“This would bring our local IVF policy in line with the majority of other CCGs in England.”

The engagement phase will run until January 16, 2019.
