Dalians beat ti­tle ri­vals to ex­tend lead

DE­SPITE some heavy rain on the pre­vi­ous day it was vir­tu­ally a full pro­gramme of games with three Manch­ester Am­a­teur Cup ties and a busy league pro­gramme.

Parrs Wood Celtic have been scor­ing goals for fun in re­cent weeks and they kept up their mo­men­tum to brush aside North Walk­den 8-1 and march into the next round of the Manch­ester Am­a­teur Cup.

Join­ing them are Ir­lam Tigers who kept lo­cal brag­ging rights as they saw off their sec­ond team 3-0.

It was much closer in the other match which saw Rad­clyffe and Moor­side Rangers sec­onds locked at 1-1 with Rangers win­ning the penalty shoot-out by 4-1.

Rochdalians in­creased their lead at the top of the Pre­mier di­vi­sion with a 4-2 vic­tory over High Lane.

Whal­ley Range moved into sec­ond spot af­ter beat­ing Water­loo in an ex­cel­lent game.

Net­ting for Range were Danny Hef­fer­nan (two), Tim Kin­sella and Dil­lon Moth.

Sal­ford Vics kept up their hot run of form to keep in touch with the top three as they beat Traf­ford United 4-1 to over­take Mil­ton who lost a close con­test by 3-2 at Wood Lane to Mel­lor who came back well af­ter con­ced­ing an early goal.

Di­vi­sion one lead­ers Dom Doyle were in hot form as they wal­loped Sto­co­ni­ans 10-0 while Chorl­to­ni­ans stayed within three points with a 3-0 win over Swin­ton.

Chorlts de­fended well to keep a clean sheet and at the other end some clin­i­cal fin­ish­ing pro­duced win­ning strikes from Andy Power, Johnny Trod­den and Aaron Rodger.

Goals ga­lore for Old­ham Vics who won 10-3 at Hoo­ley Bridge Celtic.

It was much closer at AFC Old­ham who beat Dids­bury 2-1 and Mos­ton Brook shared four goals with Bury Ams.

It’s tight at the top of di­vi­sion two as the top three teams all won to stay within two points of each other.

Whal­ley Range sec­onds lead the pack af­ter a 5-2 win over Holling­worth with the goals flow­ing from Jor­dan Walsh (two), Dean Ryan, Gra­ham Phillips and Ish­mail Barker.

New­ton stay a point adrift with a com­fort­able 4-2 win over Spur­ley Hey and Manch­ester Polo­nia cruised to a big win over San­tos.

Thrills ga­lore at Chorl­to­ni­ans sec­onds with the home team emerg­ing with a breath­less 7-5 win over Mel­lor sec­onds in a game fea­tur­ing hat-tricks from Ol­lie Wil­liams and Finn Nixon and a sin­gle from Tay­lor Nixon for Chorlts.

Close too at Be­di­ans who led 2-0 with a dou­ble from Chris Sk­iff­in­g­ton be­fore Rochdalians bagged a late goal to have Be­di­ans hang­ing on for vic­tory

South Manch­ester sec­onds had Chris Ly­den and Jor­dan Harper net­ting in a close and feisty 2-2 derby at Urm­ston Town.

In di­vi­sion three Duk­in­field Ath­letic stay on top of the pile with an ef­fi­cient 3-0 win at Mil­ton sec­onds as Sig­nol Ath­letic stay in sec­ond spot and in­creased their goal dif­fer­ence with a big win over Heaton Mersey.

Vil­lage Manch­ester en­joyed their first league win of the sea­son beat­ing Aba­cus Me­dia sec­onds 4-2, a score matched by Sto­co­ni­ans sec­onds at Al­der­mere and the other game ended in a 3-1 win for Mel­lor thirds against Sal­ford Vics sec­onds.

El­ton Lib Har­g­reaves ex­tended their lead at the top of di­vi­sion A with a gritty 1-0 win over AFC Old­ham sec­onds as Rochdale Galaxy were held 2-2 by Sig­nol Ath­letic sec­onds.
