HAMMER TIME FOR ANDY Hamilton’s in do-or-die tie with Whitlock

MCCOY’S PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS

-

ANDY HAMILTON reckons he is proving the darts world wrong by remaining in contention for the Mccoy’s Premier League crown.

There are just two weeks left before the play-offs and Hamilton must beat Aussie Simon Whitlock in Birmingham on Thursday to stay in the hunt.

“The Hammer” has drawn his last three matches and his hopes are slim, but he said: “I don’t feel under pressure.

“Everyone expected me to come bottom or next to bottom so anything else would prove them wrong.

“In the second half of the season I’ve only lost one game, to Phil Taylor, so that proves I’m getting better.

“I just wish there were another 10 games left and not two. Six of the other players have been in the Premier League before and for me it was just great to be here, whereas now I think I’m part of it.

“I’m still not out of it and I’ll keep fighting all the way.

“It’s the best eight players and although we all want to finish in the top four someone also has to finish bottom. I’m not disgruntled with where I am. I probably should be higher but I’m still battling.”

Aussie Whitlock will guarantee his place in the showpiece at London’s O2 Arena, alongside leader Phil Taylor if he beats Hamilton.

James Wade can also book his place if he beats Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld loses to rockbottom Gary Anderson.

Kevin Painter must defeat world champion Adrian Lewis to still have something to chase on the final week.
