Win the Euros? Woy not!

HODGSON LANDS ENGLAND JOB – AND IMMEDIATELY SETS HIS SIGHTS ON GLORY

-

ROY HODGSON insists he’s the man to lead England to Euro success this summer.

The new Three Lions boss signed a four-year deal with the FA yesterday and was ordered to start work on turning around the shambles that had been left behind by Fabio Capello. He will sort out the John Terry captaincy row first and

then start to assemble his squad for Poland and Ukraine.

And Hodgson insists there’s only one aim when it comes to the Euros – winning.

“We always have to go into tournaments to win them as we are a major footballing nation,” he said.

Red-hot

“It’ll never be easy – and it is bound to be more difficult here because the man who qualified the team isn’t with us and I’ve taken over at such a late stage. “But no-one would expect anything less of us than to go there trying to win it.”

Hodgson admits he will have a job on his hands in winning over fans and players after getting the nod over red-hot favourite Harry Redknapp.

“It’s going to be incredibly hard given that I have to combine it in the next 10 days with being head coach at West Brom,” he said.

“It’s not going to be easy, but then again, no-one said it should be easy.

“There are 40 days and 40 nights, and for those 40 days and nights I’m going to be working long hours.”
