It’s Frantastic to finally be here! WAIT IS OVER FOR SANDAZA AS STRIKER SIGNS FOR GERS

- By ANGUS REID

FRANCISCO SANDAZA finally got his dream move to Rangers yesterday – after a FOUR-YEAR wait.

The 27-year-old Spaniard turned down a new deal with St Johnstone and has now linked up with Ally McCoist in the Third Division.

He almost signed a precontract agreement with Gers in January but the deal fell through.

Since then Rangers have had a turbulent six months, ending with a move to the bottom tier.

But, despite all their problems, Sandaza says he has wanted to play for them since he first moved to Scotland in 2008.

“I’m delighted to finally come here and to play for this great club,” said the striker.

When I arrived four years ago I didn’t speak any English but I knew I wanted to play for a big club like this, at Ibrox, in front of a full stadium.”

“I wanted to come in January but that didn’t happen.

Dramatic

“I’m happy that it’s done now and I can’t wait to start playing for them.”

He added: “I had offers from the second division in Spain and from Cyprus and Greece, but Ally called me a week ago and told me about the project.

“We start from zero but I’ll go for it. I think we’ll come back soon and I’ll do my best to be part of it.”

One player who won’t be joining the Ibrox outfit is Robbie Savage.

The former Wales midfielder last month offered to come out of retirement and play for Gers for free.

The 37-year-old had claimed on Twitter that the offer was genuine and that he had been in touch with Charles Green.

But yesterday morning he tweeted: “Ally has my number and knows if he needs me I’ll be there!

“But it’s not going to happen at this moment. They have a good squad for div 3 and don’t need an old codger like me!”

Gers have also signed 31-year-old striker Kevin Kyle and Brazilian defender Emilson Cribari, who was on trial at Ibrox.
