‘WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF GETTING A SHAG?’
Nurse banned for trying to pull a patient
A NURSE who asked a rape victim: ‘What do you think are my chances of getting a shag?’ has been banned for a year.
Michael Miller arranged to meet the woman outside work and told the patient he wanted to molest her.
Miller said the allegations had been fabricated but a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) panel found a string of charges against him proved and suspended him from the nursing register for 12 months. Chair Linda Read said: “By pursuing an inappropriate relationship with Miss A, Mr Miller demonstrated an abuse of trust.”
Miller first met the woman, referred to only as Miss A, when she was referred to the Weald Mental Health Centre in Crawley, West Sussex, after she was the victim of a sex attack.
She had one-to-one sessions with Miller between 2006 and 2008 when she would talk about being raped.
When she told Miller that she worked at a local club, he arranged to attend once her therapy was over.
It was at the club in April 2009 that he asked about his changes of ‘ getting a shag’. Miller arranged to spend an evening at Miss A’s house, where they watched a film.
Rebecca Wood, for the NMC, said: “The film was known by both parties to have a rape scene in it and Miss A left the room when it came on.
“When she returned to the room with chocolate in her hand he said, ‘Sadistic rape and Terry’s Chocolate Orange, what could be better?’ He then said to her: ‘I keep thinking about trying to molest you but I am scared you will break my jaw?’.”
Miller was found guilty of having an inappropriate relationship, of making comments of a sexual nature and making inappropriate comments towards Miss A having known her history of being abused.
