Lloris angry at Villas-boas for praising rival
HUGO LLORIS is furious with Andre Villas-Boas – before making his first appearance for the Tottenham manager.
The France goalkeeper was signed on transfer deadline day but American stopper Brad Friedel was man of the match in the draw with Norwich.
AVB has declared Friedel has his first choice, angering his new signing.
“Lloris did not appreciate those statements,” said France boss Didier Deschamps. “I saw what Villas-Boas said and it surprised me.”
Lloris could lose his place as French No.1 if he finds himself on the bench for the rest of the season.
“I am not going to create a problem that I’m not part of, but if it happens then it will be worth talking about,” Deschamps added.
“You all know the value of Hugo. I do not know what will happen but I hope everything goes well for him.”
Clint Dempsey also signed for Spurs on deadline day and he has blasted back at Fulham boss Martin Jol.
“I’m disappointed in the way I was portrayed, in the end at Fulham,” he said.
“There were some things that were said that were not true. That’s in the past now.
“It’s about looking toward the future and I’m looking forward to playing with Tottenham. It’s a great club.
“I want to thank the fans of Fulham because it’s been five great years and some of my best memories were there.
“It’s definitely a team with a lot of quality in it, but now it’s all about the team that I’m with.”
