Internet dating conman jailed for three years
A “DESPICABLE” lothario who met lonely women on the internet before stealing from them has been jailed for three years.
David Kean, 41, targeted women by posing as a ‘genuine guy’ on a string of dating sites.
He would gain their trust and move in before stealing electrical items, cash and jewellery.
Cops say the conman plundered items worth £8,000, which he would sell to pawnbrokers.
Kean was arrested after being tracked to an address in Worcester and pleaded guilty to 11 offences across nine different areas in the UK
He also asked the judge to take into account two similar offences that he committed in 2008.
Jailing Kean, of no fixed address, at Derby Crown Court, Judge Ebraham Mooncey said: “By and large, all these women seem to have lost faith in mankind and, because of your actions, say they cannot trust people and it will take a great deal of time for them to recover that trust element.”
Detective Sergeant Debbie King of Derbyshire police said: “Kean is a despicable man who preyed on the loneliness and vulnerabilities of single women who trusted him and let him into their lives before stealing from them.” YOU just had to laugh at the story of a man dressed as the caped crusader Batman handing over a wanted man at a Bradford police station before disappearing into the night.
It brought back memories of that hilarious scene in
when Del Boy and Rodney were running through the streets late at night dressed as Batman and Robin.
Perhaps Spiderman will pop up to make the next arrest!
