April town no sympathy for slashed killer

PEOPLE in the town of missing schoolgirl April Jones yesterday applauded the lag who slashed her killer Mark Bridger in a knife attack.

Family and friends in the town called on Bridger to make his own life easier behind bars by revealing what he did with the body.

Mum-of-two Julie Williams said: “No one has any sympathy for him.

“He is so evil for not saying where her body is. Other prisoners may let off him if he lets the authorities know what he did with April.

“It’s the least he should do – this attack may frighten him into doing the right thing. But it won’t bring April back to her family.”

Paedophile Bridger was scarred for life after the attack at Wakefield Prison as he walked along a gangway.

Prison officers saved Bridger – caged after his conviction in May – from further injury and took him to a local hospital where medics stitched his face.

Friends and family in April’s hometown of Machynlleth, Mid Wales, had no sympathy for Bridger.

Family friend Alexander Darracott said: “Was he expecting an easy ride in prison? He doesn’t deserve any sympathy after what he did. Let the inmates get on with it.”

The body of April, 5, has never been found apart from fragments of skull in Bridger’s fire.
