Di Canio fury as Jack turns back on new deal in the Sun

- By JASON MELLOR

JACK COLBACK has left Paolo Di Canio fuming after turning down a new Sunderland contract.

The Black Cats boss is furious at being forced to cash in on the homegrown star, who has been at the Stadium of Light since the age of 10. Hull’s former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is ready to launch a cut-price bid, with the Wearsiders ready to listen to offers above £1million for Colback who has just 12 months left on his £15,000-a-week contract.

Cardiff are also interested in the 23-year-old, who has racked up almost 150 career games since his debut on loan at Ipswich in 2009.

Colback is the latest player to be driven out by Di Canio’s hardline regime.

Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon have already been shown the door, with Phil Bardsley told he has no future at the club after a fall-out with the no-nonsense head coach.

Skipper Lee Cattermole and striker Stephane Sessegnon can also leave for the right price as Di Canio oversees a major summer overhaul of his squad.
