Fed-up bus driver dumps rowdy kids back at school

-

A BUS driver got so fed up with rowdy pupils on board he abandoned his route and dumped them back at SCHOOL.

Parents claim the driver locked the doors after a group of unruly youngsters repeatedly pressed the buttons used to stop the bus.

Reports even suggest the bus came to a halt in the middle of a housing estate at one point, with some of the children banging on the windows and screaming to be allowed off.

The 948 bus, operated by Wigan Coachways, eventually returned to St John Fisher RC High School in Wigan, Greater Manchester, at 3.45pm on Friday.

Company bosses support the driver’s conduct but parents are accusing him of taking their children hostage.

Mum Laura Dale said: “I appreciate someone shouldn’t have pressed the bell but the correct thing to do would be to speak to the school about misbehaviour and say it needs monitoring, not take them on a wild goose chase.”

But company bosses backed the driver and have threatened to axe the service if the kids’ behaviour doesn’t improve.

Wigan Coachways director Roger Jarvis, said: “The behaviour of the children was appalling.”

St John Fisher Head Teacher Richard Ward said: “We are treating the matter seriously and are thoroughly investigation what happened with the bus company involved.”
