ROB JUST THE JOB
SCHALKE have appointed Roberto di Matteo as their new coach after sacking Jens Keller yesterday.
Di Matteo (right) has been out of work since winning the Champions League in charge of Chelsea in 2012.
He will inherit an underperforming side, with Schalke sitting in 11th in the Bundesliga.
Keller was shown the door after almost two years in charge of the Royal Blues. They are currently three points above the bottom three and the same distance from the top six and were knocked out in the first round of the DFB-Pokal – the German Cup.
Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Hoffenheim was the final straw for Keller, whose position was always under scrutiny from the day he replaced Huub Stevens.
