Wurst drag act back for Eurovision 60th event
AN Austrian drag artist will be returning to the limelight in a BBC1 show to mark the 60th anniversary of Eurovision.
Conchita Wurst, who won the competition last year, is the first act confirmed for a gig which will feature the “very best songs” from the competition.
Graham Norton will co-host Eurovision’s Greatest Hits – which will be broadcast across Europe – with Swedish comic Petra Mede.
More names are yet to be announced for the Easter event but Wurst will perform Rise Like a Phoenix, last year’s winning song.
The concert comes after the UK’s lack of success at the contest, with former shop assistant Molly Smitten-Downes only placing 17th and stars Bonnie Tyler and Engelbert Humperdinck also doing badly in previous years.
Other performers include Swedish pop group Herreys, who clinched victory in 1984 with Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley and Natasha St-Pier, who represented France in 2001 and will once again sing Je n’ai que mon ame.
Norton, 51, said: “I love Eurovision and am honoured to be co-hosting this show.”
There were gasps from the packed public gallery as he collapsed in a heap and the court clerk rushed to his aid.
Talbot groaned on the floor and looked dazed as he was eventually helped to his feet. A bloody cut to his forehead was clearly visible as the court was cleared and he was propped up against the table.
Talbot had earlier entered the witness box for the first time to give evidence in his defence against allegations that he indecently assaulted five schoolboys
