DON’T BE A SILLY BILLY LILY! Singer reckons entire planet hates Britain

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

POP babe Lily Allen claims the entire world hates Britain over its slave history.

The 31-year-old songstress made the claims in a tweet, saying: “A global Britain could be good but the world still hates us because of SLAVERY.”

She was responding yesterday to Prime Minister Theresa May outlining her plans for the country after Brexit.

But her comments caused outrage because, as many Twitter users pointed out, it was actually Britain who helped stamp out the slave trade throughout the world.

One Twitter user said: “I think you hate us.”

David Shipley wrote: “The world hates Britain for ending the slave trade? Hrm.”

And Gersace posted: “Silly Lily at it again! Privileged and out of touch with reality!”

David Fisher also tweeted: “She’s completely mad. We were first country in the world to abolish slavery.”

And another user added: “Read a history book, or the bible. Slavery is a historical human problem, not a British invention.”

It’s not the first time the singer has caused controversy for her views.

Fans were furious last year when she “apologised on behalf of Britain” during a trip to the migrant camp in Calais, France.

She also claimed on Twitter that the only attacks she had experienced were by white men.

She made the remark during an exchange with ex-English Defence League boss Tommy Robinson on migration and Asian grooming gangs.
