Wayne, you let me down!
SO on Sunday night I got dolled up and went to The Savoy, with the gorgeous Lucy Zara, for the Sports Writer’s Association Gala where Wayne Rooney was being honoured with the Tribute Award.
It was so nice to sit and listen to everyone’s stories about him and how much he does for charity.
And as the mother of a child with disabilities, those words really hit home for me.
My son Luca is a huge Manchester United fan and Rooney is his favourite player. I’d even had to promise him that I would bring home a photo of Rooney from the night.
We queued up with everyone else, but when we got to the front Rooney’s agent turned us away – twice!
For me, as a mum, I just felt gutted that my little boy would have to miss out – especially as I suspected it was because of who I am and what I’ve chosen to do with my life.
I wasn’t there as Linsey Dawn McKenzie the glamour model, I was there as a mum enjoying a night out with her mates.
It broke my heart to have to tell Luca the bad news. I just feel so A FEW months back I told you all that I’d been filming with Channel 5.
And I can finally reveal that it was for an episode of
My episode is due to air at the start of February, so watch this space! disappointed that Wayne, as a parent himself, couldn’t find it in his heart to do this for my little boy.
I could maybe understand if it had been in a club, where a photo of Wayne with a glamour model could have been misconstrued, but there were hundreds of people there, at a public event, who were all granted photos with him.
