Drunk’s 10 pints before charity shop bum slap

-

A PERVERT who groped a colleague on his first day in the job has been jailed.

William Merchant, a former delivery driver for Argos, was ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work after being caught drink driving last year.

On his first day of unpaid work at a charity shop in Deal, Kent, in January this year, the 50-year-old – who was drunk – approached a female worker and slapped her on the bottom as she sorted out a bag of donated clothing.

He then demanded a kiss from the terrified woman before groping her breasts, telling her: “I will be back tomorrow and so will you.”

Canterbury Crown Court heard how Merchant, of Ramsgate, Kent, was drunk when he arrived, and he later admitted downing up to 10 pints of beer before starting his shift at the charity shop.

Paul Hogben, defending, said Merchant was ‘deeply ashamed’ of his behaviour.

He was convicted of sexual assault and jailed for two-and-a-half years and banned from visiting Deal for 10 years.

Hussain’s next two attacks came in quick succession in the early hours of December 2. He took advantage of Uber’s informal booking system to intercept his victim by pretending to be the cab she had ordered.

The woman had been out celebrating her staff Christmas Party at the popular Book Club bar in Shoreditch.

She called an Uber cab at 2am but Hussain, who was parked outside the bar, told her he was her driver when she approached him.

He drove her to a parking bay and cut her clothing with scissors while she slept in the back. She woke up to find him kissing her and tried to fight the sex fiend off.

The woman eventually got out of the car and Hussain sped off when she said she’d call police, the court heard.

She realised she had left her phone in the car and called him back with her work
