Upskirt perv avoids prison

AN fetishist who took hundreds of pictures up women’s skirts has avoided jail.

John Paul Garland, 51, was caught with images he had taken on his mobile phone in public places.

He took pictures and videos of women’s bums and up their skirts while on escalators, buses – and even at a wedding.

Garland, of Cumbernauld, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to recording an image of genitals, buttocks and underwear of unknown females.

His solicitor told the court his client had fully cooperated with police.

Garland must carry out 275 hours of unpaid work within six months.

He will also be under the supervision of a social worker for two years and be on the Sex Offenders register for a period of five years.
