WHY DID YOU KILL ME OFF? Shobna: I wish I could come back

-

DRAMA: Shobna’s character had affair with Karl Munro on EX-SOAP actress Shobna Gulati is still FURIOUS that bosses killed off her character and that she wasn’t ready to die.

Shobna, 51, played Sunita Alahan on the ITV drama until producers slammed the door firmly shut on any hopes of a return when they killed her off in 2013.

Fans of the hit soap will remember Sunita dying in an almighty blaze at The Rovers Return as she failed to recover from her injuries.

She was in the middle of a dramatic storyline which saw her having an illicit affair with pub landlord Karl Munro, played by John Michie.

But Shobna said she wasn’t ready to quit the cobbles and is still angry about her death.

She said: “I didn’t plan on dying – it’s a shame that door’s shut, because there could have been a time when I’d have gone back.”

The actress played Sunita from 2001 to 2006 and then again from 2009 to 2013 before her permanent exit.

Despite her Street death, Shobna is back on screens this week in Scottish drama River City where she plays Farah Khurana.

Shobna is contracted to three months on the show but she said she’s open for a longer stint and said: “I don’t make plans.”
