KYLIE’S GRAN WAS HANGED!

AUSSIE superstars Kylie and Dannii Minogue’s ancestor was killed in a GRANNY HANGING – and the sisters are now being begged to visit the site of her execution.

Kylie, 49, and Dannii, 46, have a far-flung relative, Dinah Riddiford, who was the oldest woman to swing from the gallows.

She was hanged for stealing from a neighbour at Gloucester Prison in September 1816 at the age of 69.

And after being executed, her hanging became known as ‘The Granny Hanging’ in the local area.

More than two centuries on, tour operators at the jail want the Minogue clan to pay them a visit and see the place their ancestor met their fate.

Lucy Tyndall, who works for Jailhouse Tours, said: “We didn’t know anything about it until a man came in one day and said ‘this is where Kylie Minogue’s gran was executed’.

“When we looked it up we realised Kylie WAS actually related to somebody who was hung here.”

Dinah was one of 121 people hanged at Gloucester and manager Paul Ross has now reached out to the famous Australian sisters.

He said: “Going to a hanging would have been like watching Gloucester Rugby play on a Saturday afternoon.

“I wish we could be lucky enough to get a visit from Kylie.

“Dinah was executed for something that she probably wouldn’t go to jail for today so it would be great if Kylie and Danni could come to visit.”

Court records show that Dinah and her son Luke were jailed in Gloucester for stealing.

While Dinah was sent to the prison roof for public execution, Luke was sent down under to the penal colonies in Australia.
