MONKEY TROUBLE: Jeff and his favourite hat DOZY Jeff Swedenhjelm has been paralysed after he plunged from a roof while chasing a monkey that nicked his favourite hat.

He fell 33 feet after refusing to give up the chase for the monkey, which had stolen his woollen beanie.

Doctors now say he may never walk again after severely damaging his spinal cord.

The American, 42, lives in Bali, where the accident happened.

His daughter Lyric, 21, said her dad was determined to get his hat back because it was a souvenir of his favourite football team. and he walked on the roof.

“He got up to the second floor, got up to the third floor and he was trying to get the monkey to just drop it and run away.

“That’s the memory he had.

“He understands that the way that he got into last this mess is honestly pretty silly, but the seriousness kind of takes away from that.”

Doctors are hopeful a series of surgeries may give him some feeling back in his body if they can relieve the pressure on his spine.

But Lyric said: “Only time will tell. We aren’t completely positive.”

And she added: “He didn’t get the hat back. Damn monkeys.”
