Football star now President Weah
FORMER football star George Weah has been sworn into office as Liberia’s new president.
The 51-year-old took over the leadership of the impoverished West African nation from Africa’s first female president.
Weah, who was Fifa’s 1995 player of the year, won the run-off vote on December 26 against the outgoing vice president.
He had a glittering football career playing in France, Italy, the UK and elsewhere.
He is faced with tackling Liberia’s youth unemployment and other major challenges.
